Expertise boosts financial services leadership
NZ Financial Services Group (NZFSG) has announced the appointment of Thérèse Singleton (pictured above) as a non-executive director.
This move is part of a strategic effort to strengthen the organisation’s governance, growth, and adherence to industry best practices.
Singleton’s extensive industry experience
With more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector across New Zealand, Ireland, and Asia, Singleton brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role at NZFSG.
Her background includes senior positions at AMP and Resolution Life. She is also currently a member of the NZ Financial Advice Code committee and a senior leader at Ando Insurance.
“I am thrilled to contribute to NZFSG’s strategic direction and support our network of advisers,” Singleton said. “Customers turn to the advisers within the NZFSG community for guidance and solutions, and the board is committed to ensuring they are well placed to meet and exceed the needs of their clients.”
NZFSG chair on Singleton’s appointment
Brendon Smith, board chair of NZFSG, expressed his enthusiasm for Singleton's appointment.
Singleton’s “extensive knowledge and exceptional track record in both the financial and insurance sectors make her an invaluable addition to our board,” Smith said. “Her insights will be pivotal as we continue to navigate through evolving regulatory environments and strive to set new standards in adviser services.”
The inclusion of Singleton is aimed at enhancing NZFSG’s support for advisers by improving compliance, risk management, and strategic operations.
Her “leadership and in-depth knowledge of the ever-changing industry are widely-recognised,” Smith said. “Her inclusion will complement and enhance our ability to maintain high standards across all adviser services, with a special focus on regulation and compliance.”
Smith also highlighted the increasing importance and obligations of advisers, noting NZFSG’s role in utilising technology to support their safety and help New Zealanders secure their financial futures.
In April, NZFSG, which sponsored the recent 2024 NZ Mortgage Awards, introduced the Mortgage Recommendation Engine to its MyCRM platform, to allow advisors to transfer client data with a single click, significantly reducing the time spent on manual data entry and duplication of efforts.
