The Reserve Bank of New Zealand and a major bank have announced new appointments for 2017.

Louis Hawke has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of BNZ, effective 1 February 2017.
BNZ chairman Doug McKay says Hawke has had a successful career in banking and finance with ANZ as managing director of product, strategy and marketing, as GM of commercial at Advance Bank (St George Business Finance) and general manager roles at Westpac Banking Corporation.
“He has a keen grasp of how consumer behaviour and technological advances are changing the face of banking.”
During his career, Hawke also was senior engagement manager with McKinsey & Company, where he specialised in strategic evaluations and takeovers, and was an economist with the Australian Government’s Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, providing advice on economic issues and policy.
“I am very pleased to be joining the Board. It is an exciting and challenging time for the industry and I believe I will be able to make a strong contribution to BNZ’s continued success,” said Hawke.
The Reserve Bank has made two senior management announcements, appointing Klarissa Plimmer as chief information officer and Patrick Hoerler as head of risk assessment and assurance.
As CIO, Plimmer is responsible for the Bank's information management and technology after previously holding the role of Director ICT Solution Delivery at the New Zealand Defence Force, and working in a number of ICT leadership roles at the BNZ for 13 years.
Hoerler is responsible for ensuring that financial, operational, and reputational risks faced by the Bank are identified, monitored and managed in line with best practice.
Hoerler was previously the risk assurance officer for Mercury (formerly Mighty River Power and Mercury Energy) and was previously their treasurer. His brings a background in international banking, having worked with Credit Suisse and Zurich Kantonalbank in the US and Asia before migrating to New Zealand to work as treasurer for ENZA and in banking with HSBC.
