The tie-up aims to recover $130,000+ in missed annual revenue for financial advisors

SortMe has teamed up with Akahu to launch the SortMe Advisor Portal, a tool designed to enhance financial advisory services.
Akahu, known for providing API services that improve account data connectivity, complements SortMe’s software, which leverages real-time data to facilitate more accessible and professional financial guidance for Kiwis.
The new advisor portal is crafted to assist financial advisors in managing more than 100 clients, potentially reclaiming $130,000-plus in missed annual revenue.
By providing real-time financial data, the portal enables advisors to deliver timely and personalised advice, optimising client management and revenue opportunities.
Streamlining financial advice with advanced technology
The Advisor Portal utilises Akahu’s open banking technology to integrate clients’ transaction information seamlessly.
This integration automates spending categorisation and notifies financial advisors of significant financial events for their clients, such as mortgage refinancing needs or changes in employment status.
This proactive approach aims to transform the traditional advisory role, focusing on timely and relevant financial guidance.
Focus on client relationships and value
The new tool reduces the time financial advisors spend on manual data entry, allowing more opportunity for direct client engagement.
Carl Thompson (pictured left), CEO and co-founder of SortMe, said that the portal allows advisors to focus more on adding value rather than administrative tasks.
“Eliminating the need for manual data reviews, the portal enables advisors to build stronger client relationships and spend more time delivering value to customers,” Thompson said.
Several financial practices across New Zealand, including The Money Men and Financial SolutioNZ, have already implemented the portal, signaling a positive reception in the financial community.
Feedback from industry professionals
Keith Kerr from Financial SolutioNZ has expressed optimism about the portal, noting its innovative approach to financial advising.
“SortMe is delivering a new level of innovation of which I have not seen in this industry before. We are very excited about the opportunities it provides us,” Kerr said.
Promoting financial wellbeing with open banking
Josh Daniell (pictured right), co-founder and COO of Akahu, emphasised the role of open banking in enhancing financial wellbeing.
“At Akahu, our mission is to give Kiwi control of their data,” Daniell said. “This is a great example of where our open banking APIs are being used to boost the financial wellbeing of everyday New Zealanders.”
