Full name:  Matthew Davey

Job title: Associate director

Company: Peritus Private Finance

Number of years in the industry: 12

Location: Newcastle/London

How did you get into the mortgage industry?

After studying Law at Northumbria University, I joined the financial sector working within Newcastle Building Society as a law graduate, where I developed a passion for property finance.

An opportunity to join Peritus Private Finance signalled the start of my career as a mortgage and protection adviser.

I have over 10 years’ experience working in the property finance sector, and people say I have talent for making the complex seem simple, this leaves me perfectly placed to find solutions for my clients.

What are your motivations to continue as a broker?

I’m a people person, and as such, I enjoy speaking to clients to get a comprehensive picture of their circumstances to enable me to find the best solution for their funding needs, as well as helping them protect their loved ones and assets.

My law background has enabled me to develop exceptional problem-solving skills, which combined with my financial experiences means I’m well equipped to find financial solutions for my clients.

Our clients are often high-net-worth individuals and have complicated or varied income streams meaning the high street lenders are sometimes not able to help them. I enjoy the challenge of finding the specialist lenders to help my clients move forward.

What are your future goals – for your personal career and your business?

I was proud to progress to the position of associate director at Peritus in 2024. Future plans include expanding Peritus Private Finance’s adviser network. We provide authorisation and support for self-employed mortgage advisers, wealth managers and several AR firms.

Peritus Network offers bespoke packages depending on the individuals’ circumstances and business model. We pride ourselves on this flexible approach. We are experienced enough to look after our advisers, and with a compact team, we able to respond to queries swiftly and efficiently. We take the time to look after all the members of our network personally.

I’ll also continue to work with my clients, expanding our client base with the help of our growing team to provide them with advice that helps them achieve their financial goals.
