Specialist lender opens new office in Britain's second biggest city

Specialist development finance lender Atelier has opened a new regional office in Birmingham's business district.

Atelier, who pitch themselves to intermediaries as focusing on quick lending decisions for their clients, has launched the new space in 102 Colmore Row which is led by lending director Rav Kudhail. The move follows the deployment of £150 million capital to the region, with plans to lend another £100 million over the next year. Kudhall, who was at specialist mortgage lender Hampshire Bank until 2021, was promoted to the position in August.

With around 4.3 million people in the greater Birmingham area, Atelier obviously have big hopes for the area.

"The fact we've delivered £150 million of lending in the region so far is evidence of our commitment to being the lender of choice to finance a range of asset classes across central England and the North."

Chief executive Chris Gardner, who had time with Metrobank and Lloyds before joining Atelier in 2019 added: "The opening of our Birmingham office underscores our commitment to funding property development in the region. We have already delivered custom finance solutions to a diverse range of residential, student accommodation and care projects in the Midlands and our Birmingham office launch only consolidates our plans for growth."

Earlier this year Atelier funded  £11.9 million worth of conversions in the city, £4.7m to convert an office building into 15 new apartments in Birmingham city centre, and £7.2m to regenerate a Grade II listed building with a new build block, into 32 new apartments in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
