Mansfield Building Society has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to upgrade its core banking system and front-end digital platforms.

The society will implement the TCS BaNCS platform to support its online services, with plans to introduce a fully digitised mobile app, which will complement the mutual’s existing distribution channels as part of its long-term strategy.

In addition to the BaNCS platform, Mansfield will adopt TCS Digital Home Lending, aimed at enhancing its end-to-end mortgage processes. The technology is expected to improve user experience, streamline efficiency, and support tasks ranging from mortgage offers to payments.

The partnership with TCS is part of Mansfield’s broader transformation plan, which seeks to leverage technology for growth while maintaining its personal approach.

“We needed a partner that had the scale to support our ambitious growth plans; the technology to support our digital transition; and equally importantly, an organisation that shared our core values that we could work in partnership with over the long-term,” said Paul Wheeler (pictured left), chief executive at the Mansfield Building Society. “Along with their CV and technical credentials, TCS are a perfect cultural fit.

“We need to make sure we take our members, colleagues and other stakeholders on this journey with us, so we’ll be delivering enhancements in phases over the next couple of years.  These phased improvements will ensure that we deliver change at pace and in a controlled way.”

Amit Kapur, head of UK and Ireland at TCS, said the partnership would strengthen their presence in the building societies sector and reinforces their “strong track record of providing transformative solutions to credit unions and other organisations across the UK.”

“Our tech-enabled solutions will make it easier for both customers and mortgage intermediaries to deal with Mansfield Building Society,” Kapur added.
