Willson has an impressive track record in the industry that spans more than 25 years and his appointment will be seen by many as a coup for Brightstar.
After some 11 years with Household Mortgage Corporation and rising to the position of BDM, Willson moved to Stroud & Swindon in the same role before joining sub-prime lender Future Mortgages as head of sales in 2000.
In 2003 he left to become head of sales at Beacon Mortgages, a role that would progress to sales and marketing director of Beacon Homeloans in 2006. In April 2011 he joined B Legal as business development director, then on to become a director of tax specialist Avitus Strategies and latterly as director of sales for Magellan Homeloans, a position he took up in September 2012.
Rob Jupp, CEO of Brightstar Financial, said: “Hitting the £500 million mark was a great achievement for us but to get to the next level we cannot rest on our laurels, if we are to move forward.
“Attracting Clive is a tremendous coup for us. He is one of the most respected mortgage channel leaders in the market and he brings with him not only a hugely successful track record but also strong ideas as to how he can help propel Brightstar forward.”
Jupp added: “Clive’s role will be to proactively build, manage and improve our lender relationships and also grow our successful alliances with networks and clubs, as well as open up new channels for us to serve.”
Willson said: “Like many of us in the industry, I have watched the rise and development of Brightstar Financial with admiration. Thanks to companies like Brightstar, the specialist lending market has become one of the most innovative and vital channels for intermediaries and their clients. I am delighted to be joining an acknowledged leader in the industry.”
