JLM Mortgage Services will launch a specialist packager service focusing on complex prime, development finance, commercial lending and bridging in the next few weeks.
The packager will be a separate company called 1st Premier Mortgage Packaging.
To get the venture up and running Jonathan Burridge (pictured) has joined as development director from The Mortgage Broker, where he was sales manager for three years. He is working on the project with Vincent Burch Mortgage Services, a packager based in Norwich and an appointed representative of JLM.
Sebastian Murphy, head of mortgage finance at JLM, said: “In building a specialist packaging firm we aim to bring to the marketplace greater competition and transparency for the benefit of both consumers and advisers.
“We needed someone who had the experience and professional attributes to deliver this strong proposition and therefore we are very happy to have Jonathan on board.
“We look forward to the enthusiasm and wealth of experience he will bring to the role.
“Jonathan’s appointment shows our commitment and ambition to deliver on our business plan to grow JLM and provide even better service to our existing network members and staff.”
The packager will initially be soft launched with JLM advisers, though the expectation is to roll it out to the directly authorised market.
Advisers using 1st Premier Mortgage Packaging have the option of referring over the business or working with the service, in what Burridge described as a ‘traditional packaging route’.
Burridge added: “My three years at The Mortgage Broker was hugely rewarding and enjoyable and I leave the business having helped it achieve many milestones.
“The time had come to take on a new challenge and I look forward to working with Rory, Seb and the network. There are some exciting times ahead.
“I was impressed with JLM’s core principles of putting the client at the heart of everything they do and I am enthused to be able to come in and push forward with their contemporary ways of transacting business through their ‘Virtual Advisor’ proposition.”
