Thomson was founding sales and marketing director as well as a shareholder, having been with the company since January 2015.
Peter Beaumont joined as deputy chief executive December 2017.
Trevor Pothecary, chief executive of The Mortgage Lender, said: “I’d… like to thank Pete Thomson for his contribution to The Mortgage Lender and wish him every success in future ventures.”
All three previously worked for Mortgages PLC, with Pothecary as chief executive, Beaumont as deputy chief executive and Thomson as sales director. That company was sold to Merril Lynch in late 2004 for a sum thought to be close to £88m.
The three later went on to found RPS Capital Partners, a property fund working with banks, receivers, insolvency practitioners, lenders, property developers and landlords to enable them to quickly dispose of either individual properties or larger developments. Pothecary held the role of chairman, Beaumont was chief executive and Thomson was promoted to managing director.
Sales boost
TML also revealed the acquisition of a number of account managers.
Laura Sneddon and David Eaves have been promoted to national account managers with responsibility for the Southern and Northern regions respectively, while Richard Angell has been hired from Pepper Money to take responsibility for the South West.
Malcolm Etchells will join from The Coventry Building Society and become responsible for the North West, while David Jackson from Metro Bank will take ownership of the North Midlands region.
Pothecary added: “The expansion of the sales team from six to 10 marks a step change in our growth ambitions.
“We’re delighted to be welcoming such experienced new business development managers to the team and look forward to strengthening existing broker relationships and building new ones.”
