Scotland Yard disclosed that the unidentified imposter met a number of people at Miss Waugh’s home in Marylebone, central London, and elsewhere up until the end of June in an attempt to raise money.
The wealthy businesswoman, who had never gone missing before, has not been seen since the beginning of May and detectives fear she could have been kidnapped the Daily Telegraph reported yesterday.
Police said today that at least three women have impersonated Miss Waugh and one man has pretended to be her brother, Chris, since she vanished.
Det Chief Insp John McFarlane, who is leading the inquiry, said: “We know that there has been a man who we have not as yet identified, who has been impersonating Chris, who was endeavouring to raise finances and engage in the selling of her flat in London.”
Her brother said it was "most distressing" when he found out that an imposter had been pretending to be him.
