Ian Thomas from Montello explained: “The borrower in this transaction is a high-profile entrepreneur involved in the telecommunications industry. His company was looking to acquire an asset in Asia, and the purpose of the bridging loan was to assist with a capital injection to allow for the purchase. However, we had to act very quickly.”
The loan, which was secured against the borrower’s portfolio of London investment properties, required Ian Thomas to meet the borrower at Heathrow Airport to sign up the documentation and finalise the deal. The loan was advanced to the borrower 48 hours later, and allowed for the borrower to complete on their acquisition in Asia.
Commenting, Christian Faes from Montello, said: “This is a classic example of how bridging finance can be used to achieve a borrower’s commercial objectives. It is also an example of the lengths that we will go to ensure a deal gets done if required. At Montello, borrowers and intermediaries have direct access to the actual decision makers, and the directors are actively involved with every deal.”
