Speaking at the annual NACFB Expo in Birmingham Grimshaw said a “watershed moment” had occurred for the industry.
“The fact that we have hit £1bn a month in lending should not be underestimated. This is a watershed moment for our industry.”
And Grimshaw said that he saw this as only the start of a resurgence for the sector.
He said: “There is no reason why the level of growth shouldn’t continue and we could be pushing in excess of £13bn a year soon.”
The association also provided a rundown of its work to bring SME lending onto the national agenda by both lobbying and promoting the sector through the national press.
Lucy Hodge, NACFB PR and Marketing director, said: “We have worked hard on getting the message out to the national press.
“Commercial finance brokers are under-represented in the marketplace and we are working hard to get them the recognition they deserve.”
