Private Label was launched by industry legend Stephen Knight in 1990 before being purchased by GMAC in 1998 and finally closed for business in 2002.
Brightstar declined to comment.
But its chief executive Rob Jupp took to Twitter to write today: "I'm beyond excited. Project #PrivateLabel almost ready for lift off."
