Back in September Housing Minister Gavin Barwell branded the banning of letting agent fees a “bad idea”.
He was asked on twitter if the rest of the UK would follow Scotland’s lead by imposing a ban by co-leader of the Green Party Caroline Lucas.
Barwell responded: “Bad idea - landlords would pass cost to tenants via rent.
“We're looking at other ways to cut upfront costs & raise standards.”
The announcement is expected in today’s Autumn statement.
