Specialist buy-to-let lender Zephyr Homeloans will host a webinar on Tuesday, May 24, for brokers involved in advising limited companies, which are typically set up to purchase and manage a BTL property.
Julian Sampson, partner at TWM Solicitors and head of the firm’s lending department, along with Zephyr’s regional sales manager Andy Rowe, will discuss the laws that apply to limited companies, how they borrow money and directors’ responsibilities.
The 45-minute webinar, which will include a live Q&A, will also cover the differences between conveyancing for a BTL limited company and purchasing BTL property as an individual, how personal guarantees work, as well as the importance of directors and non-directors receiving independent legal advice.
Paul Fryers (pictured), managing director at Zephyr Homeloans, said changes to BTL tax relief in 2017 meant increasing numbers of property investors set up limited companies in order to buy a rental property.
“As well as making brokers aware of key conveyancing principles involved in BTL limited companies, the webinar should also encourage some lively discussion and help brokers deal with future applications,” Fryers added.
Other topics during the webinar include the importance of the latest training for legal firms on BTL limited company investment, the role of limited company board minutes and how lenders assess applications from limited companies.
