The society revealed these expansion plans after seeing a significant surge in commercial business.
“Lending to the right kind of small and medium-sized organisations is a major part of our strategy going forward," said Chris Parker, head of intermediary sales.
“We simply need to grow the number of intermediaries we are doing business with on a regular basis – and I am keen to work with a mix of brokers, some who already specialise in commercial mortgages, and others who want to offer commercial finance facilities to their existing residential portfolio.”
Few of the Nottingham's current brokers are specialist within the commercial sector, with most leaning towards residential and buy-to-let lending.
Parker added that the society was keen to adopt a partnership approach in order to provide the necessary support systems and help intermediaries refine their business models.
“We’re not seeking to recruit brokers who are looking for the highest procuration fees.
"Instead, we’re looking to attract intermediaries who are committed to the delivery of an excellent all-round service to their clients," he concluded.
