Output for private new housing was up by 1%.
Construction output for housing rose in the three months up to August, ONS Construction Output figures have showed.
Output for private new housing was up by 1%, for private commercial developments 0.9% and for public new housing increased by 3.6%.
Neil Knight, business development director at Spicerhaart Part Exchange & Assisted Move, said: “The August construction figures represent a slight fall back from earlier in the summer but the non-seasonally-adjusted numbers for new housing are still up 18%– nearly a fifth – since the start of the year.
“There are bound to be fluctuations from month to month but the long-term trend is encouraging.
“On a seasonally-adjusted basis, figures are up more than 6% since the same time last year, and while the public sector continues to account for a big chunk of that, new private housing is up 4.5%.
“We’re certainly seeing that positive picture on the ground, with plenty of new projects coming through and developers looking to expedite sales.”
