Michael Aldridge, innovation director at L&C Mortgages, has left the company after spending just shy of 20 years at the brokerage.
Aldridge (pictured) made the announcement on the social media website Facebook, before posting an abridged version on Twitter.
He wrote: “After 20 amazing years I’ve walked out of the hallowed L&C doors for the last time.
“Wow, what an incredible journey, so many fantastic memories, opportunities and friendships.
“I’d like to thank everyone I’ve worked with throughout my time, thank you for the motivation, inspiration and experience.
“I wish you all every success in the future.”
Aldridge added that he plans to spend more time with his family before deciding on his next career move.
He first joined L&C Mortgages as a mortgage and protection adviser in December 1999, shortly after graduating from the University of Bath in Economics and Politics.
According to his LinkedIn page, Aldridge became mortgage and protection supervisor in January 2002, head of life and protection in July 2007, head of sales in January 2009, sales director in February 2010 and finally innovation director in February 2016.
He also had a seven-month stint as chairman of the executive board, from April to October 2018.
Phillip Cartwright, managing director at L&C Mortgages, said: “After almost 20 years, Mike Aldridge has decided that now is the time to leave L&C to pursue other career opportunities.
“During his time here Mike has undertaken a range of different roles. He has been instrumental in many of the changes that the company has undergone during its development over that time.
“I’m sure that everyone at L&C is grateful to Mike for his substantial contribution over the years and will join me in wishing him all the very best for the future.”
Many of those who worked closely with Aldridge wished him well by responding to his social media announcements.
Nicola Firth, chief executive of Knowledge Bank, wrote on Twitter: “Wishing you the very best of luck for the future Mike! It was a pleasure working with you there.”
