Brad Fordham is set become interim head of mortgages following Sard's departure.
Miguel Sard (pictured) has left Santander to join NatWest.
Sard was managing director of mortgages at Santander and spent sixteen years at the bank.
His new role, managing director of homebuying and ownership at NatWest, will begin in the summer.
Sard replaces Ian McLaughlin who left the role in May last year.
Brad Fordham is set become interim head of mortgages following Sard's departure.
A NatWest spokesperson said of the appointment: “We are looking forward to Miguel Sard joining the home buying and ownership team in due course and welcome his expertise and experience in the sector.”
This news follows Santander's recent financial results which saw their overall mortgage lending in 2019 increasing by £7.4bn to £165.4bn.
This was despite a 37% drop in their UK pre-tax profits.
