Sutherland Mortgage Services has appointed a chief operations officer, Chris Storey after its entry to the UK market and subsequent FCA approval.
Storey has worked as head of mortgages within Tesco Bank, funding programme director at Belmont Green, and various senior roles at Northern Rock.
He will lead Sutherland’s team as it targets established lenders and challenger banks keen to launch into mortgage lending, savings or explore niche areas of the market and work closely with Sutherland Labs, design research teams based in London and San Francisco.
Scott Slifer, global head of mortgages and chief executive of Sutherland Mortgage Services UK, said: “Welcoming Chris to the team is an exciting step in the next stage of development for Sutherland Mortgage Services UK.
“He has a vast wealth of experience in leading financial services companies and developing new service propositions, and he brings to the company time-served insider knowledge of the UK market.
“This makes him the ideal person to help us expand the product set and steer the division towards its objectives of making a significant impact in the UK mortgages and savings market.”
At Tesco, Storey helped set up the mortgage proposition and was responsible for defining the strategy for the new product category.
He also has a wealth of experience in product proposition, strategy, securitisation and retail and treasury funding.
Storey added:“I’m thrilled to have joined Sutherland Mortgage Services UK- the business has a really entrepreneurial and flexible approach, yet is backed by a global firm that has already set the bar for large-scale servicing and transformation worldwide.
“Sutherland’s particular strength in digital innovation presents a real opportunity to deliver a new kind of service to both our clients and their customers. It is an exciting time to join Sutherland as it seeks to bring strong solutions to clients in this new era of technology in the UK financial services market.”
