He brings 26 years of European real estate industry experience to the role
Property lender Hilco Real Estate Finance (HREF) has appointed Duncan Pearson (pictured) as senior business development consultant.
Pearson, who holds a degree in Quantity Surveying from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, brings 26 years of European real estate industry experience to the role. His background includes equity investing, debt structures, asset management, property recoveries, and restructuring.
Previously, Pearson was an executive director at PGIM Real Estate in London, leading origination for the firm’s real estate investment strategies. He has also held senior positions at Mitre Capital Partners (Santander), ING, KBC, AIBC, Berlinhyp, and Currie & Brown.
“We are delighted to welcome Duncan to the team,” said Brad Altberger, chief executive and co-founder of Hilco Real Estate Finance. “With his deep experience in the real estate lending sector, he will significantly enhance our ability to identify and transact across a wide variety of lending opportunities.
“In particular, we are seeing a significant uptick in demand for loans to finance development exits and given the breadth of Duncan’s relationships with developers, we expect to materially increase our lending activities in this segment.”
Commenting on joining the real estate lender, Pearson said he was impressed with Hilco’s value proposition and the speed and efficiency in which the team is able to craft lending solutions across sectors and geographies.
“Given its entrepreneurial spirit and achievements to date, I believe this is an exciting time to join the firm,” he said. “I very much look forward to working with Brad and the entire team to grow Hilco’s lending activities.”
Last month, HREF appointed Steve Allen as senior business development manager.
Headquartered in London with offices throughout the UK, HREF is a subsidiary of Hilco Global, a multi-national financial services group with more than $3bn of assets under management. It provides bespoke, flexible property finance solutions nationwide across various real estate sectors and capital structures, offering short-term loans for growth, acquisition opportunities, development exits, and refinancing exits with loan sizes ranging from £1 million to over £50 million.
