It is the 13th acquisition since the company was established in 2021
Pivotal Growth has acquired mortgage and protection broker Charleston Financial Services, marking its fifth acquisition of 2024.
Based in Milton Keynes, Charleston specialises in commercial, bridging, buy-to-let, and the house in multiple occupation (HMO) sectors. Founded in 2009, Charleston has shown strong growth in specialist markets under the leadership of founder and managing director James Hardwick.
The acquisition, which has already received approval from the Financial Conduct Authority, enhances Pivotal Growth’s presence in specialist markets and adds scale to its operations.
The deal is also Pivotal Growth’s 13th acquisition, after recently acquiring London-based mortgage and protection broker Morrison Ward Associates. Other acquisitions this year included that of the John Charcol Group in April and of Select Mortgage & Financial Solutions and Select Brokers in January.
“I am pleased to announce our latest acquisition in Charleston,” said Simon Embley (pictured), chief executive of Pivotal Growth. “Charleston has successfully tapped into specialist markets and grown to be an industry-leading specialist broker. I am looking forward to working with James to accelerate the growth journey of Charleston. James is a highly experienced leader whom we are delighted to welcome into the Pivotal Group.”
Commenting on the transaction, Hardwick said they were excited to join Pivotal Growth.
“We look forward to achieving accelerated growth in this new partnership,” he stated. “We are delighted by the opportunity to join Simon and his team to grow the Charleston business and add value to the Pivotal Group.”
Pivotal Growth is a joint venture between LSL Property Services and Pollen Street Capital, an independent alternative investment management company who focuses on financial and business services. Launched in April 2021, it aims to invest in growing profitable mortgage and protection brokerages and to help them build long-term sustainable value.
