Intermediaries are being invited to send for a sales and information pack illustrating in detail how Abbey’s Flexible Plus offset savings mortgage works. The pack will also include customer-focused literature to help clients visualise the benefits of offsetting, as well as sample mortgage statements, case studies and competitor comparisons.
Abbey’s Flexible Plus mortgage offers all the features of a flexible mortgage, including underpayments, overpayments and payment holidays, in addition to an offset savings facility. One key additional benefit of Flexible Plus is that customers do not need to switch bank accounts to benefit from offsetting.
Abbey for Intermediaries has, as a result of feedback from IFAs, identified a need for end-customers to have a greater awareness and understanding of flexible and offset mortgages.
The new materials will be a useful tool for intermediaries advising clients who find it difficult to see how the various aspects of offset mortgages fit together. Abbey for Intermediaries is also aiming to increase awareness of the offsetting aspect of its own Flexible Plus mortgage.
The information packs can be used alongside new sales aids, both of which provide a clear guide to the product, using simple illustrations and examples.
Ambrose McGinn, Director, Abbey for Intermediaries, said: “Offsetting remains a bit of a mystery for some customers and that’s disappointing because there’s a wide range of people who can benefit from the flexibility of offset mortgages.
“Abbey for Intermediaries is aiming to fill the knowledge gap, by providing materials which will enable intermediaries to talk through the options with their clients, and help them make a more informed decision.”
Intermediaries can get a copy of the pack by contacting their regional sales office, or by calling 0141 944 3926 (from 21 April).
