It aims to make it quicker and easier for intermediaries to discuss a client’s options as they approach the end of their existing deal.
From today, if intermediaries want to discuss specific account information relating to their client and no signed customer declaration is held, they can simply fax in a newly created form to AFI, together with one form of acceptable ID for the customer. The new form, the Existing Customer Written Authority Form, can be found on the existing customer pages on AFI’s website.
This will remove the need for AFI to write to existing customers to obtain written authority, reducing the time for recording consent and providing the required information from five to three days.
Commenting, Alan Mathewson, managing director of Abbey for Intermediaries, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for intermediaries to do business with us, and this latest change is designed to support intermediaries whose clients are approaching the end of their existing mortgage with us. By making it quicker and easier for an intermediary to discuss the best deal available to their client as they approach maturity, we can work more closely with intermediaries to help them meet the needs of the borrower.”
