McMillan will report to chief executive officer Amany Attia and is a member of the company’s operational management committee.
Based mainly in Acenden’s High Wycombe office he is responsible for all the core operating teams in the business.
These include the High Wycombe-based contact centre operation, the administration unit, the specialist servicing and arrears teams and the strategy and planning group.
McMillan said: “I am very pleased to be joining Acenden as part of a team highly focused on delivering excellent and efficient client solutions and customer service.
“The UK and Irish loan servicing markets remain uncertain, making it critical that the industry draws on experts who have the capabilities and insight to maintain asset performance at optimum levels.
“It is also important not to lose sight of the needs and circumstances of the borrowers, or the desire of regulators to ensure that services offered are appropriate, fair and clearly explained.
“I am looking forward to leading the operations teams as they deliver the excellent service that clients have come to expect and deserve.”
Attia, said: “Paul brings a broad range of highly relevant mortgage operational skills to our business. In addition to his knowledge of UK and Irish mortgage markets, his experience and team management skills will allow us to develop our operations to add further value to our clients, whilst maintaining and improving our service levels to borrowers.
“I am delighted to welcome him to Acenden and I look forward to working closely with him.”
McMillan joined Acenden from the Ulster Bank subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland and has over 20 years’ banking experience across a number of senior roles in RBS Group.
These include head of mortgages, responsible for processing new mortgage applications for seven Group brands, and most recently head of banking operations for Ulster Bank.
In his earlier career, McMillan held several critical mortgage business planning and supplier management positions, following a number of years in the retail bank branch network.
He brings deep knowledge of both RBS and the Irish financial markets, which will be of great use as Acenden continues to grow its offering and operations in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
