Robert’s primary task will be to represent the industry to government, politicians, civil servants, regulators and policy-making groups.
Robert, who took up his position on 16 October 2006, was formerly head of advice development and quality, retail banking, at Abbey National (from 2003). Prior to this, he was regional manager for Inscape Investments Ltd. From 1978 -2000, Robert worked for HSBC in a variety of roles.
The role of associate director of AFB encompasses five key responsibilities: strategy, policy, stakeholder relations, team leadership and financial management.
Commenting on his appointment, Chris Cummings, director-general of AFB, said: “Robert Sinclair has extensive first hand knowledge of the financial services sector and I am pleased to be able to bring someone of his calibre and experience on board.
“The industry is going through a period of unprecedented change. With new pressures emanating from UK regulators and the EC, the secured loan community needs a person like Robert to be their ambassador. I look forward to working with him.”
