Alps transfers landlord legal expenses book to AmTrust

Alps, a provider of insurance add-on policies, legal expenses, and claims solutions for intermediaries, has transferred its landlord legal expenses book to AmTrust International under a full delegated authority agreement.

The agreement grants Alps a direct binder with AmTrust, enabling the company to manage claims through its in-house law firm, Alps Legal. The transition has allowed Alps to enhance its policy offerings with features informed by industry benchmarking and broker feedback.

These enhancements include coverage for breaches of tenancy agreements, such as anti-social behaviour, court attendance expenses of £100 per day up to a maximum of £1,000, a 45-day claim reporting window, and pro-rata refunds for cancelled rent protection policies.

The landlord legal expenses policy now provides cover across the UK, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man, with an indemnity limit of £50,000. Policyholders can monitor claims in real time via Alps’ digital portal.

Michelle O’Reilly (pictured), operations director at Alps, said the move offers greater control over products and ensures brokers and policyholders benefit from the company’s technology-driven service.

“We constantly benchmark ourselves against competitors and broker expectations,” O’Reilly said. “With the backing of AmTrust, we’ve been able to deliver a differentiated policy and experience that prioritises fair value and improved outcomes.”

Alps operates as a managing general agent (MGA), offering a range of motor-related and property-related add-ons.
