Intermediaries rightly expect to be able to contact lenders via low cost telephone lines. The majority of lenders agree that this is a fair expectation and have responded accordingly by changing key points of contact from premium rate 0870 numbers to inexpensive replacements.
In December last year Amber Homeloans Limited (Amber) responded to this demand by replacing its premium rate telephone numbers with 0845 numbers charged at the local rate.
Yet six months later, and despite several communications to intermediaries advising of the change of contact numbers, one in five callers are still dialling Amber’s old 0870 telephone numbers and failing to take advantage of the improvements that have been made for their benefit.
Amber said it wanted to remind intermediaries that low cost telephone numbers are provided by almost all lenders, and would encourage everyone to take full advantage of the cost savings they present.
