Mentoring will be available to all lenders, insurers, and brokers
The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has announced the launch of its new mentoring programme aimed at supporting people across the mortgage industry to enhance their skills and their career potential.
The cross-industry mentoring programme, created in association with the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) and The Diversity and Inclusivity Finance Forum (DIFF), will operate through AMI’s Working in Mortgages website.
The trade body said mentorship was one of the recommendations made in the 2021 AMI Viewpoint on diversity, inclusion and equity in the mortgage sector to reduce barriers towards career progression.
Through the programme, which was announced earlier this year, one-to-one and reverse mentoring opportunities will be available to all lenders, insurers, and intermediaries.
“We are grateful for all the partnership provided between AMI and IMLA to weave a network across our sector,” stated Robert Sinclair (pictured), chief executive at the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries. “Thank you to DIFF for its financial support to this initiative, which means it will be free at the point of delivery. I am excited to see how this can enhance the career journeys of our people.”
Sinclair encouraged all those interested to develop their skills and progress their careers to sign up, pointing out that “everyone has something to give, and everyone has something to learn.”
“You are never too young or too old to be mentored,” he said. “A good mentor can help keep a career challenging and fulfilling, even for those in the later stages of their career. No matter where you are in your career, there is always someone who knows more than you, who can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and improve your skills.”
