Smith will take up the new role in July.
Smith was previously head of mortgage distributions for Buildstore and has extensive involvement and experience in the mortgage industry. He helped to set up and establish the lender Verso, where he was director of Sales and Marketing. Previously, Smith held senior positions with UK top ten lenders with an emphasis on the development of intermediary business growth and distribution.
Commenting on the appointment, John Mawdsley, spokesman for AMPD said ‘this role is paramount for the continuing growth and development of AMPDs strategy. There is much, as an Alliance, that we intend to accomplish and this new appointment will allow us to move forward with our ambitions. Eddie is held in high regard by the industry and has the experience to help bring our plans to fruition. We already produce considerable volumes of mortgage business and with the appointment of an Operations Director of Eddies calibre we can now move forward with our plans.
