Turner said: "I am proud of the development of ARLA in every aspect of its operations over the past six years of my leadership and the way that this has culminated in the successful move forward to the amalgamation with the NAEA.
"This amalgamation will do more than anything else to ensure that ARLA will continue to grow and become an even stronger voice for the PRS, to the benefit of all its members and their landlords and tenants."
Peter Bolton King, NAEA chief executive, said: "Obviously, I am sorry to lose someone of Adrian's calibre and dedication. However, this is tempered by the fact that in his new consultancy role he will be on hand to help us guarantee the future of both professional bodies."
During his time as CEO of ARLA, Adrian Turner was closely involved in the consultation and practical implementation of several major pieces of legislation, including the 2004 Housing Act. He was also the prime mover behind the setting up of the voluntary Tenancy Deposit Scheme for Regulated Agents some three years before such schemes became mandatory in the PRS earlier this year.
