Lender welcomes largest intake of graduates under recruitment scheme

Aspen Bridging has expanded its Graduate Recruitment Scheme (GRS) with its largest single intake to date, appointing four university graduates to roles across the company.
Toby Long (pictured left) has joined as a trainee credit analyst after earning a first-class degree in mathematics from the University of Bristol. He will support the lender’s credit team with analytical tasks.
Sameer Yakub (pictured right), who recently relocated from Australia, has been appointed as a graduate underwriter. He holds a 2:1 in finance and economics from the University of Melbourne and has prior experience in sales and recruitment.
Finbar Mulrine has also been hired as a risk assessor. A first-class graduate in biomedical science from Wolverhampton University, he will draw on his family’s experience in local property development and refurbishment.
Arjan Lal has joined Aspen as a software developer. Previously a business systems developer at Birmingham Metropolitan College, he holds a first-class degree in computer science from Birmingham City University.
Participants in the GRS receive training in all aspects of the lender’s operations and the bridging finance sector, gaining hands-on experience in their respective teams.
The new hires come as Aspen reports a 25% increase in its loan book as of January 2025 compared to the previous year. The lender also plans to announce a new Midlands-based business development manager soon.
“To meet £250 million lending in 2025, equating to a further 25% book growth, and even more ambitious plans for 2026 and beyond, we must have one of the best teams in the sector,” said Jack Coombs, director at Aspen Bridging. “The Graduate Recruitment Scheme allows us to take promising young university talent, train them in a comprehensive manner and create the next generation of bridging talent which will ultimately help us achieve our goals.
“The fact they are joining one of the fastest growing bridging lenders in the UK will give them impetus to excel and grow in line with the company, as have previous GRS joiners who now hold senior positions.”
