The age is unchanged from three months ago when the banks reported that a third of their first-time buyers fell into the under-25 age category.
Considerable variations in the average age of first-time buyers can be seen from region to region.
The youngest first-time buyers are found in Yorkshire where the average age in 2011 was 28.
The oldest first-time buyers at Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank were in Wales at 36 years old.

Last year, Post Office Mortgages revealed that the average of a first-time buyer was 35 years old.
