A ‘back to basics’ training course was introduced as a result of talks held last week. The course will be for those new to the industry or wanting a refresher on marketing and sales. It will cover business generation and the sales process using BDS, along with compliance.
To accompany this, a marketing toolbox giving advice on financial promotions, and a website design kit, which provides pre-designed web templates for appointed representatives (ARs) to launch their own website propositions were also launched.
BDS said the initiatives had been met positively by members. One of the three forum representatives elected by ARs was Rob Marshall, director of Forest Edge Mortgages. He said: “The meeting was about making sure that members are aware of all the services BDS offers. The back to basics course will hit home what we may already know, but are not using to help build our businesses. After this forum, it will become more apparent to members that there is more to BDS than just being a packager and network. Hopefully, it will trigger people to raise questions they hadn’t thought of before and get members interacting for the next meeting.”
Bob Hope, head of sales for BDS Mortgage Group, commented: “The members were really positive about the network and had some innovative ideas and constructive feedback to bring to the table. It is great that our ARs want to be so actively involved with the network to ensure that the mortgage lenders on our panel, products we offer and services we provide are up to scratch and beneficial to their businesses. I look forward to the coming months and implementing the initiatives we discussed.”
The forum will be held quarterly to raise any issues or questions members may have.
