BoS scoops top award

The IMAF awards are the only consumer mortgage awards that acknowledge quality and service in the Irish market. The awards were decided by the results of a survey undertaken by 600 authorised brokers, which represents in excess of 70 per cent of business transacted by brokers and is valued at over €1.5 billion per annum.

Michael Dowling, president of IMAF, said: "Irish lending institutions have a lesson to learn from Bank of Scotland's success, there is a growing gap between the service levels of the few leading institutions and the remaining majority. It is essential that lending institutions begin to radically change their approach to customers. As a recent entrant to the Irish market Bank of Scotland has made a significant impact."

The survey of brokers reflects the views of customers and underlines brokers reliance on the banks to deliver a higher quality of service for their clients. Bank of Scotland won the award scoring the highest average score for quality of product and service.

Ronnie Macaulay, national sales manager at Bank of Scotland, said: "We are proud to receive this award, it recognises our continuous efforts to improve the exceptional service we offer to brokers and customers. It is encouraging to receive such recognition from the industry and we intend to build on our reputation for innovation and service."
