The lender will still produce its own mortgage and savings products but has decided to link up with Zurich FS for the provision of investment and other products, following the end of a similar relationship with Eagle Star.
New products include; investment products from Threadneedle investments; and life insurance, critical illness insurance and pensions from Allied Dunbar.
Craig Knight, managing director of Bristol & West’s consumer business, said: "The new tie gives us the best of all possible worlds, the opportunity to tie with a respected and experienced company such as Zurich Financial Services and, most importantly, for our customers to benefit from a much wider choice of products backed by award-winning Threadneedle funds, plus a choice of funds from 10 other fund managers."
Kevin Ronaldson, strategic distribution director of Zurich’s UK life business, said: "We already know Bristol & West very well and look forward to developing our long-standing relationship. Everyone benefits from this deal, Bristol & West’s customers get more choice in investments, protection and insurance, the bank's advisers get our expert support and back up, and we dramatically expand our distribution network, which should increase business all round."
