Optimism was higher for network members than for directly authorised brokers, according to the research. Charterhouse believes this is due to appointed representatives having the comfort of more support from networks, placing their brokers in a better position for upcoming regulation changes.
The survey also revealed that 70% of female intermediaries believe their business will grow compared to just 55% of their male counterparts.
The data suggested that the two main reasons for a more optimistic perspective were an upturn in remortgages and specialist lending areas.
Julie Erwin, director at Charterhouse Research, said: “Over the last few years optimism and pessimism have fluctuated however we’ve definitely seen optimism for the returning market with intermediaries expecting to write more business in the coming quarter. This is very much in line with the growing opportunities in the remortgage sector.”
