Gary Lester, managing director of Lifestyle Mortgage Services, said he had unsubscribed from KGB’s e-mail list three times, and e-mailed the company directly twice but was still receiving the e-mails advertising the packager’s service and products.
As a result, Lester has now registered KGB with a global anti-SPAM organisation which means many other brokers who normally receive e-mails will no longer get them as their SPAM filters will automatically delete the messages.
In his latest e-mail sent to KGB and Mortgage Introducer, Lester said: “I am forwarding this to the FSA; it may as well know your type of marketing and how it affects brokers who never want to hear from you.
I am also sending a copy to Southern Pacific Mortgage Limited (SMPL) since you are using its logo and I am sure it does not support SPAM.
“Finally I am sending it to your internet service provider to advise them to cut off your connection. Thank you for your continued SPAM.”
However, Rachel Bancroft, managing director of KGB Packaging, said the matter had only now been brought to her attention and that the e-mails were actually being sent by Niche Mortgages.
She said: “To advertise our service we go through different marketing channels, including the mortgage magazines. These e-mails are sent by Niche Mortgages to all the brokers on its database. We have no control over this database.”
“I have only received one e-mail from Mr Lester. As soon as I got it, I dealt with the matter immediately and told Niche to take him off the database. SPML approved the adverts before they went out. We have acted compliantly,” Bancroft added.
