She will join the organisation on September 1
The Building Societies Association (BSA) has appointed Debbie Enever (pictured) as head of external affairs.
Enever, who will join the organisation on September 1, will succeed Hilary McVitty, who held the role for 12 years until her recent retirement.
She has over two decades of experience in policy, stakeholder engagement, and communications roles, most recently as head of external relations for the Financial Ombudsman Service, spending the last nine months on secondment to the Financial Conduct Authority. She also previously worked in Westminster for the Liberal Democrat Party.
In her new role, Enever will champion the BSA’s members and wider financial mutuals as a key part of the UK’s current and future financial services sector.
“We are delighted to welcome Debbie to the Building Societies Association and our senior leadership team,” Robin Fieth, BSA chief executive, stated in an article announcing the appointment. “Her skills and expertise will be of great value in leading our external relations strategy, and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.”
Commenting on her appointment, Enever said she was excited to be joining the Building Societies Association.
“I’ve always been a supporter and advocate of the mutual model, and am particularly looking forward to enthusiastically promoting it through the media, to political audiences, and with other key opinion formers,” she added.
Established in 1869, the Building Societies Association serves as the voice for all 42 UK building societies, as well as seven credit unions. It speaks out on issues that are relevant to building societies and their members, and provides technical information to members on a huge range of topics.
