He will join the mutual in mid-September
The Buckinghamshire Building Society’s board of directors has announced the appointment of Dan Wass as its new chief executive officer.
He will join the building society in mid-September, following incumbent CEO Gerard O’Keeffe’s decision to retire later this year.
Wass brings with him a wealth of senior leadership experience, having served most recently as director of member propositions, banking, insurance and investments at Nationwide Building Society. He was previously a managing director at Barclays UK and held a number of senior retail banking leadership positions there.
Dick Jenkins, chairman at Buckinghamshire Building Society, said that while many impressive candidates applied for the CEO role, Wass was the stand-out choice for them.
“This is a high-profile appointment that reflects confidence and excitement about the future of our society,” Jenkins added. “Dan’s credentials speak for themselves, but we are delighted that Dan will be an inspirational leader for the great team we have and an excellent cultural fit.”
Wass said he is thrilled to be joining the building society at such an important time.
“I can see that the society has strength, real momentum and a proud heritage of serving its members and the wider Buckinghamshire community,” he stated. “I’m very much looking forward to meeting the Bucks team and joining in September.”
