Lenders add new BDMs to expand broker support

Building societies beef up intermediary teams with new appointments

Buckinghamshire Building Society, Market Harborough Building Society, and Principality Building Society have each added new talent to their intermediary teams, aimed at further enhancing support for mortgage brokers.

Buckinghamshire Building Society has appointed Georgia Smith (pictured far left) as a telephone business development manager (BDM). Smith brings seven years of experience from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, where she developed expertise in sales management, broker communication, and business development.

As a telephone BDM, she will be the first point of contact for brokers, providing guidance on the lender’s mortgage products, assisting with applications, and working closely with field-based BDMs to ensure strong broker relationships.

“I’m passionate about building strong relationships and helping brokers find the right solutions, so I’m really looking forward to joining the team,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, Market Harborough Building Society has also expanded its specialist lending team with two new field-based BDMs, with Alex Doveston (pictured second from left) joining as a nationwide bridging specialist BDM and Brian Sanford (pictured second from right) taking on a role focused on complex mortgage cases in the Midlands.

Doveston, who previously worked at Octopus Real Estate and Greenfield Bridging, said he is eager to support brokers with bridging finance solutions. Sanford, who has over 35 years of financial services experience, also expressed his excitement in leveraging his experience to support brokers working with Market Harborough.

In a similar move, Principality Building Society has appointed Calum Strong (pictured far right) as a new BDM for the Midlands region, marking the first in a series of planned hires for 2025.

Strong, who previously held roles as a mortgage broker and BDM at Coventry Building Society, will support brokers across key locations, including Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham, and Northampton.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the team at Principality at such an exciting time,” Strong said. “With six years’ experience in the financial services industry and an exciting year ahead, I look forward to working with brokers throughout the Midlands.”
