Average prices have risen by 5.6% on an annual basis and 0.9% from February to reach £206,726.
After prices in London fell in February they rose again by 0.3% in March and 6.7% annually to stand at £492,119.
The number of new sellers entering the market increased by 27% from last month, although the number of housesales fell by 6.3% from February.
