The events, to be held throughout June and July, will also involve independent adjusters Fitzgerald Consulting and city law firm Edwin Coe.
The ‘master classes’ will focus on offering practical advice and guidance for brokers, using real-life, post-loss examples to provide tips on an area of insurance regarded by many brokers as a potential minefield.
It will concentrate on avoiding common problems when placing BI cover (and the ensuing threat of negligence claims); how best to support clients in the event of a loss; and how to attract and retain BI business.
Jessica Yeoh, manager at the CII’s Faculty of Insurance Broking, said: “It is vital that our members keep up-to-date on key technical and market issues and I am confident that CCI’s BI ‘master classes’ will deliver the content and focus to both enhance customer advice and support continuing professional development.”
Malcolm Stewart, managing director at CCI, said: “We are delighted to be working with the CII and BIBA.
“This marks a further step forward in our efforts to build long-standing relationships with the broking community and to share knowledge and best practice in the field of business interruption.”
Gordon Benville, head of CeMAP regulatory services at the Institute of Financial Services (ifs), said: “We at the ifs fully support any initiatives that improve the knowledge of brokers in the insurance sector.
“This continued help to the broking community from bodies such as the CII
will help ensure best practice is maintained in the industry.”
