She will be officially opening the Conference, and addressing delegates at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow on 4 October 2006.
She will join industry leading figures speaking at the Conference on the theme “Rising to the Challenge”, speakers include new Lloyd’s chief executive Richard Ward, Standard Life (UK) chief executive Trevor Matthews, McKinsey & company director Charles Roxburgh, AXA Insurance chief executive Peter Hubbard and Chris Hanks, general manager commercial Allianz Cornhill who will be debating topics including consumer attitudes, the war for talent and future strategic challenges.
Steve Wellard, CII director of communication, said: “We chose Glasgow because it has a strong heritage in the insurance sector, and through investments such as the International Financial District, Glasgow is responding to the transformation in the way that financial and insurance companies do business in Scotland.
“It is also fitting as it is the home of the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow, who are this year celebrating their centenary.”
New for this year the Conference programme will run over two days, 4 – 5 October 2006. On day one the programme will kick off in the afternoon with fringe meetings, an opening keynote address, a graduation ceremony, careers fair and conference exhibition. Day two will be a full day programme with special breakout sessions for life and pensions, underwriting, London market, claims and broking – all led by the various CII faculties.
The Conference will conclude with the gala dinner which will see the CII’s Presidential transfer of office for the year 2006/07.
