Countrywide announces new appointments

Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS), a supplier of valuation panel management services, has announced the appointment of Gillian Grace (pictured left) as managing surveyor, following the recent promotion of Kate Marlow (pictured right) to head of surveyor development.

Grace, who previously worked at e.surv Chartered Surveyors for more than six years as a residential surveyor and valuer, brings over 20 years of experience in residential and quantity surveying. She has also held positions at major construction firms, including Sir Robert McAlpine and Laing O’Rourke.

In her new role at CSS, Grace will oversee surveying operations, lead a team of surveyors, and collaborate with regional management. She will also support the development of trainee surveyors through mentorship and peer training.

Commenting on her appointment, Grace said she was looking forward to collaborating with new colleagues and contributing to the team’s continued success.

“CSS’s dedication to professional development and support for its surveyors immediately stood out to me and aligns with my own passion for growth in the industry,” she added.

Marlow, who has been with CSS since 2004, steps into a newly created role aimed at enhancing professional development. Her career at the company has included positions as chartered surveyor, managing surveyor, regional operations manager, and regional director.

As head of surveyor development, she will oversee training initiatives, co-ordinate aftercare for newly qualified surveyors, and organise professional development programmes. Marlow will also focus on well-being efforts, including support networks for women in surveying, new parents, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“We are a people-first business, and my passion lies in supporting and developing our people, both professionally and personally,” Marlow said. “My goal is to create opportunities that empower everyone to reach their full potential. I am committed to nurturing an inclusive and positive culture, ensuring CSS remains the employer of choice in our sector.”
