Turner will be running his seventh marathon in aid of Cancer Research UK, which is dedicated to helping people to beat cancer through research and development into the disease.
Running his ninth marathon, Stockton will be raising money for Shelter, the UK’s leading charity helping the homelessness and housing problems. This will be Stockton’s second New York marathon, after previously completing others in Rome, Chicago, Berlin, Tokyo, Miami and two in London.
Stockton, who only took up running after his 40th birthday, said: “Even though Grenville and I have both completed marathons before, it is still an exciting challenge and we are both looking forward to participating in the event to support two great charities and the amazing work that they do.
“We’ve both been training most weekends, with additional runs squeezed in before and after work, so hopefully New York won’t be too cold in November and all the hard work will pay off when it comes to the big event!”
