Walker’s latest advertising campaign claims to offer “an electrifying eye opener” and lending that “satisfies every broker’s dark side”.
Playing on the EL James bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey – dubbed “mummy porn” – Walker is tempting brokers to consider offering their clients remortgages and secured loans whether they’re “squeaky clean” or “downright dirty”.
It says: “Not every remortgage enquiry is vanilla and conventional. Have you been tempted to try something a little different? Secured loans cater for all tastes from squeaky clean all the way to downright dirty.”
Promise offers secured loan rates from 6.9% and interest-only up to age 80 while some loans can go up to age 100.
Unsecured loans start from 9% on three to 30 years with adverse credit accepted.
First charge loans up to £50,000 are also on offer for self-employed and adverse borrowers.
Meanwhile second charge loans start from £5,000 and range up to £3m.
For self-employed borrowers with no business accounts Walker claims his “shades of grey” caters up to 85% LTV with bank statements while rates start at 7.9%.
The advert ends with the quip: “For hardcore applications we even have unlimited bad credit without accounts. Whether it’s clean or dirty talk to Promise about your next loan enquiry.”
Walker said: “We did this as a tongue in cheek email campaign to supporting introducers and potential new introducers. The feedback overall was positive particularly from female brokers.
“Unfortunately some of the boys hadn’t read or heard of the book and were left somewhat bemused.”
One female broker who received the email ad directly said: “I must say what a fabulous bit of marketing – excellent.”
And another female broker said: “This is brilliant – well done whoever thought of it.”
Meanwhile Rob Jupp, managing director of Brightstar Financial, said: “Anything that promotes women's sexual liberation is a good thing; although I can't help thinking about Steve Walker at Promise and it’s not helping!”
