Dragonfly recently launched a £130m commercial real estate debt fund, which was raised by its parent firm Octopus Investments.
Gibson, who has advised on estate assets for the past decade, was recently a fund manager at a private equity investment fund, where he managed a £175m real estate portfolio comprising office, industrial, leisure and hotel assets.
Prior to that he was as a fund manager at Ekistics Property Investors, investing £100m of seed capital in a broad range of pan-European property assets.
Jonathan Samuels, chief executive officer of Dragonfly Property Finance, said: “To be able to hire in people like Dominic reflects the development of Dragonfly into an established lender with substantial commercial property expertise.
“We have bold plans for the sector and Dominic will play a key role in bringing them to fruition.”
And Ludo Mackenzie, head of commercial property at Dragonfly Property Finance, added: “We are delighted to attract someone of Dominic’s calibre – his skills and experience will be invaluable as our growth story continues.”
Dragonfly has completed over £1bn of loans since inception in 2009.
Gibson said: “I’m really excited to be joining Dragonfly. To my mind, they have built an incredibly strong platform that offers a genuine alternative to traditional bank financing.”
