In April, new rental property numbers topped 62,765 for the first time in more than 18 months due to the increase in reluctant landlords.
April also saw an 8.8% increase in new rental properties being advertised compared to March (57,701), as many homeowners turned to renting as a last resort.
EasyRoommate.com figures also show that new rental property numbers had increased for the fifth consecutive month in April before May figures suggest that sellers are no longer looking towards the rental route.
