It teams up with four modular manufacturers to introduce the new mortgage range
Ecology Building Society has partnered with modular manufacturers to launch a new range of mortgages aimed at supporting the growth of modern methods of construction.
The mutual teamed up with four modular manufacturers – Agile Homes, HebHomes, nHouse, and R. House – to offer the new mortgages to their customers, but indicated the possibility of partnering with more suppliers in the coming months.
The building society claims to be the first UK lender to bring together modular construction manufacturers with a dedicated mortgage solution.

“The new ‘off-site build’ mortgages enhance our range of green mortgages for self- and custom-build, and we hope that this will help encourage and accelerate the construction of the most energy efficient homes to help meet the UK’s net-zero ambitions,” the mutual stated in a post announcing the launch.
Ecology Building Society’s introduction of the new green mortgages comes at a time when the government has stated that new homes must reduce carbon emissions by 75% by 2025.
“Decarbonising our homes is key to meeting our net-zero ambitions,” Gareth Griffiths, chief executive at Ecology Building Society, said. “Now, more than ever, it’s important that lenders play an active role in incentivising green building and helping to reduce energy bills.
“We’ve been leading the way on sustainable mortgages for over 40 years, and we’re really pleased to be working in partnership with off-site manufacturers, who have a track record of delivering sustainable homes. We hope that our new mortgages will help scale-up modern methods of construction to deliver more homes built to higher energy-efficiency standards.”
